An illness is spreading: a prepared home, calm and care.

A pandemic or a contagious illness at home is easier to get through with a pantry to hand, medication up to date and a plan for caring for whoever falls ill without infecting everyone else. Always follow the health authorities' instructions.

What should I have at home?

Food and water for about two weeks, your medication with some margin, a thermometer, the painkillers you usually use, masks, soap and cleaning products.

How do I care for someone who's ill without catching it?

Give them their own room, ventilate often, wear a mask when you're with them, wash your hands and don't share glasses or towels.

When do I call 112?

If there's difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, bluish lips or any sign that worries you. If in doubt, call.
